Blink - Malcolm Gladwell Review

                     Blink is one of the best selling books of Malcolm Gladwell. The book is a national best seller and had been one of the best selling books in it's genre. Let's review this book by Gladwell

What this book is about?
                             "Blink"  is about making high speed decisions in situations that might require us to do so. Malcolm Gladwell gives various  exciting examples about how people have made high speed decisions which turned out to be very accurate. 
                    In this book Gladwell tells about how thin slicing to get the important from the unimportant can help us in making better decisions.He also talks about how biases can happen in our decision making and we end up making bad decisions , and then offers tips to overcome biases in decision making. 

What are the chapters and the content

1. Introduction: In this chapter Malcolm tells about an incident in which a statue taken to a museum was identified as fake using the intuition. The introduction is done in a interesting manner and keeps the reader interested

2. The Theory of Thin Slices : Here Malcolm tells about how problems can be done effectively by dividing the problem into smaller parts and focusing on what's important. The examples of a psychologist who thin slices people's behavior to reach conclusions about them is used and is an exciting read.

3. The Locked Door: The Secret Life of Snap Decisions:  In this lesson, Malcolm tells us about people who perform snap and accurate judgments are sometimes unable to understand or give reasons for their decisions. 

4. The Warren Harding Error: Why We Fall For Tall, Dark, and Handsome Men: In this , Malcolm talks about the unconscious biases which happen. He gives examples how we assume that tall men are good leaders unconsciously. 

5. Paul Van Riper’s Big Victory: Creating Structure for Spontaneity: In this Chapter , Malcolm talks about it happens that we have all the information required and more, but that still does not mean that we would be making the best decisions. Sometimes focusing on more important and less informations enables us to make a better decisions. Malcolm uses excellent examples to highlight this.

6. Kenna’s Dilemma: The Right — and Wrong — Way to Ask People What They Want : In this chapter Malcolm, talks about how when we come across something new, we may feel that we don't like it but actually which isn't the case.

7.Seven Seconds in the Bronx: The Delicate Art of Mind Reading : In this chapter, Malcolm discusses the case about what would happen if we act on our biases and make snap judgments.

8. Listening with Your Eyes: The Lessons of Blink : In this chapter, Malcolm tells about how biases have been overcome by people across the world. Malcolm concludes with how miracles happen in a blink.

The Good:

 1. The book is really interesting to read
 2. The examples are excellent and are good topics in themselves and to talk with friends, colleagues about. 

The Bad:

 1. Malcolm style of coming to conclusion by just citing examples may not be liked by everyone
